The Ohio Job and Family Service Director Association and the County Commissioners Association of Ohio will host a webinar entitled Navigating Unemployment Insurance During COVID-19: Tips and Pathways for Employers this Thursday, April 23rd at 11:00 AM.
Julie Barone, Legal Chief, OUIO Legal Support at the ODJFS Office of Unemployment Insurance will provide a high-level overview of the SharedWork Ohio program, a vital layoff aversion tool that allows employers to retain trained staff during times of reduced business activity. The presentation will also cross-reference the programs and funding options available under the CARES Act. ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Julie is chief of the Legal Support Section for the ODJFS Office of Unemployment Insurance Operations. She began her career in 2001 as an Assistant Attorney General for the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, litigating on behalf of ODJFS and several other clients. In 2005, she accepted a position as in-house legal counsel for the department, and she has been serving in legal and policy roles for ODJFS ever since. Juliane served as an integral part of the team that oversaw the legislative drafting and implementation of the SharedWork Ohio program, Ohio’s premier layoff aversion program. During the current COVID-19 crisis, she has been volunteering her time promoting SharedWork Ohio to employers to help them retain jobs.
